US Canoe Kayak Sprint National Championships

This past month has been a great experience as an athlete and organizer for adaptive sports. I competed at the US National Spring Canoe Kayak Championships, located at the Olympic Training Center, Chula Vista, Ca. I am the 2014 and 2015 Mens Paracanoe, KL3,K1 200m and 500m sprint national champion. I still have a lot of hard work ahead to get to the competive level I need to be at and will continue to work towards that goal. There have been many challenges along the way and I chose to take things on head on than be defeated.

This month also marks the debut of the first Athletes with Disabilities Network North East Chapter SportsAbility event. This event was co-hosted by the Camden County Freeholders and in collaboration with Challenged Athletes Foundation Operation Rebound and Team River Runner Southeast Pa. We had the honor to introduce disabled veterans and communit members to adaptive kayaking, running, rowing and swiming. It was a great day and I look forward to many more events and watching these veterans and community members enjoying days like these and becoming more active in their lives.
